Developing Tomorrow's Leaders
We believe in the fundamentals of Scouting. Our operations run on the Patrol Method and are completely Scout-led. Our weekly troop meetings are a mix of fun and learning, and we have additional monthly events. We run year-round, so you're never left troop-less!
In Troop 906, we have 78 years of experience Developing Tomorrow's Leaders through our Scouts, who participate in exciting activities such as campouts, earning merit badges, and achieving Eagle Scout. Most importantly, we value the passing of knowledge from our older generations of Scouts and Scouters to new Scouts and leaders so they can continue the cycle. We strive to and are always eager to serve our community.
Established: 1946 | Charter Organization: Kiwanis Club of Valparaiso
Scoutmaster: Niccole Anderson-Schelling
Our Structure
Since we welcome both boys and girls, Troop 906 is classified in Scouting as a "Linked Troop." This means that we are split into two troops, Troop 906B and Troop 9906G. However, both units go under Troop 906 and are essentially one unit, as they share leadership, meet together, and attend the same activities.
When registering them as a member of Troop 906, you must apply for your youth's gender-specific troop. All online application and inquiry URLs on this website specify between boys and girls, so ensure you complete the correct form! Our male and female Scouting programs are equally strong, and we consider them one entity.
Fun fact: Troop 906 is one of the only 'true' linked troops in our council, meaning that we meet and attend activities together and share the same central leadership.
